Today is the fifth Sunday of this month, and that means it’s “Stump the Choir” Sunday! On this Sunday, the members of the congregation select ALL the hymns for our worship service – including the offertory anthem. When the time for a hymn arrives, the pastor will ask for suggestions, and the congregation may call out a specific hymn BY NUMBER for the choir to sing. If the choir is not “stumped” – we sing it! But remember…the music director gets to choose the final hymn!
What’s going on with our search for a new church home?
Our commercial realtor, Herman Munster, continues to search the greater Cypress area, especially along Highway 290, for a suitable location for our future church home. We have seen empty land, commercial buildings, and even a former church or two. Some are too expensive, some are too far from our congregation members, and some are just “not right.”
However, we continue to look and pray that the Lord will lead us to the right location in HIS time.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Formerly known as “Decoration Day,” it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers of the Civil War. (Southern ladies’ organizations and southern schoolchildren had decorated Confederate graves in Richmond and other cities during the Civil War, but each region had different dates – which were usually in May.) By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
We remember and honor all who have died in the service of our country.
Lord we pray for all honorable soldiers who stand in some dark corner of the world. In the belief that though the time, the place, and the circumstances may appear to be godforsaken, the honorable soldier never is.
