Youth Sunday Announcements

Today is our annual celebration of “Youth Sunday.”  For the first time since we began observing this day back in 2013, we will not have a special speaker today; the current Covid-19 pandemic makes arranging an outside speaker difficult and not as safe as in years past.  However, we continue to lift up our youth in prayer as we celebrate all God’s children.  May they continue to be loved and blessed – as we remember these words from the Apostle Paul:

So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us.”  1st Thessalonians 2:8

Immediately following our worship service today, there will be a congregational meeting.  The purpose is to act upon the recommendations of your Nominating Committee.  Below is the slate of needed offices and the nominees for each:

Two Deacons: Laura Hudson and Liz Silva
Resource & Administration Elder: Gary Shapley
Mission & Outreach Elder: Ann Peterson

As always, nominations from the floor are permitted, as long as you have discussed making that nomination with the person you are nominating.  Both in-person and Zoom church members will be counted together.  Please make plans to stay for a few extra minutes to attend this meeting.

As we continue to remember the 40th anniversary of our church’s founding, each of you should have receive a mission mailing project titled “Forty Days in Christ.”  It shows several “paths” that you can choose to follow and celebrate our church’s founding.  These paths are:

  • Be Still With God
  • Giving Path*
  • Conversation With God
  • Practicing Forgiveness
  • Pursuing Peace
  • Worry-Free

Please contact Elders Ann Peterson or Jodie Smith with any questions.

If you didn’t receive a copy or you would like to receive the $40* described in “Giving Path,” contact Pastor Mark for information.

OCTOBER MISSION OFFERING: PCUSA Peace & Global Witness Offering

Every year, during the month of October, Heritage PC participates in the Peace & Global Witness special offering.  As the denomination’s flyer explains, “By giving to the Peace & Global Witness Offering, we work to share Christ’s peace with one another, beyond our doors, beyond our community and across boundaries.”

We all know how difficult peace can be when people have to deal with natural disasters.  So this special offering is given in these ways:

  • 1/4 of our offering will be given directly by our congregation to some organization helping those recently affected by a natural disaster.
  • 1/4 of this offering goes to the Synod, joining with other congregations to support peacemaking work in our region.
  • 1/2 supports the work done by Presbyterians across the globe.

Today is the last Sunday we will be promoting this very special offering.  Mail your check to the church office, or use the on-line giving option on the church web page and send an email to the church office (hpcadmin@heritagepresbyterian.org).

Thank you so much!
