Scripture – Matthew 13: 54-58
Theme: When Jesus tried to go home to Nazareth, he was soundly rejected by the people. Jesus remarked that a prophet receives respect and acclaim everywhere, except in his hometown. I wonder if those people in Nazareth were holding onto the past so tightly that they couldn’t accept anything new – especially in the person of the “carpenter’s son.” I also wonder if sometimes we hold onto the past too tightly and don’t look for the new things that the Lord might be doing in our own lives.
