Scripture – Jonah 3:1 – 4:11
Themes: forgiveness, mercy of God, stubbornness in some believers, punishment, obeying God, ancient OT stories. When Jonah was called by God, he refused and ran away. God pursued Jonah and caused him to be swallowed by a great fish until Jonah changed his mind. But when Jonah preached to Nineveh and they repented, Jonah was angry at God for not destroying them. Mercy was God’s to give OR to reject – not Jonah.
