Scripture – Ephesians 5: 15-20
Theme: Back in the 1880’s, the man in the picture – Rev. Ebenezer Dickey Junkin – was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Houston. When some of the men in his church stayed out too late at the bars, saloons, and “other places”, their wives would go and beg Dr. Junkin (my great-great grandfather) to go and find them and bring them home. Somehow, this righteous man of God would go into the locations, find the missing husband, and drag him out by the collar. Then the good Reverend would drive the poor man straight to church!
How did this pastor get the nerve and the courage to do this? And was Ephesians, chapter 5, his motivation?
