Scripture readings – John 13: 1-17
When Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, he made them all feel extremely uncomfortable. Foot washing was a duty for the lowliest servant to do – NOT their beloved Teacher. Yet Jesus insisted and washed the feet of every Apostle, even as they protested (especially Peter!). In doing this, Jesus reminded his Apostles – and all believers – that his true followers are called to serve others, not act as their masters.
