The Book of Leviticus contains a section of laws, rules, and commandments known as the “Holiness Codes.” These instructions are clear prohibitions against certain behaviors. They are straightforward and easy to understand. Mixed in with the various lists, the reader will occasionally find the quote, “I am the Lord” – which reinforces where these rules come from.
But…Jesus sums up all the commandments, all the rules, all the interpretations with just two sentences: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
