Scripture – Isaiah 40: 1-5, 28-32
Theme: When some are wishing one another “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Holidays!” others in our society see this season as being filled with pain and loss. Many in our midst have suffered from devastating losses in the past year or so, and celebrating the holidays is something that is hard to do. A “lament” is a cry to God (or even a cry AT God!). Large portions of the Bible, especially the Old Testament are filled with laments from the people of God toward their Maker. It is perfectly okay to lament and even to be angry at God when we are hurting. But others around us can also help to comfort those in pain.
