October Announcements

A welcome mat with the word " welcome ".

We welcome to our pulpit, Rev. Mirjam Hass-Melchior, the pastor of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church/Needville.  Today, Rev. Mirjam and Pastor Mark are “swapping pulpits†in order to visit each other’s churches and to preach the word.

Rev. Mirjam came to St. Paul’s PC/Needville, after serving Springville Community Presbyterian Church in Utah. She is originally from Germany, has served as a mission co-worker in The Philippines, and in 2008 migrated to the United States with her husband and now three children. She is a “Trekkie Nerd†and a big fan of James Bond movies. Whenever possible, she loves to be outside or traveling around the world.  She and Pastor Mark have been great friends since her arrival at St. Paul’s PC, a church where he worked as an intern in 2008-09.

Last Sunday we collected $116 in our Gold Bag offering for Free the Captives. Thank you so much for your support!

Tropical Storm Imelda recently dumped a foot of floodwater into First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland, Texas.  They have begun the long, messy process of cleaning and repairing damage.

We have decided that 25% of our Peace & Global Witness Offering will be sent to these sisters and brothers of ours.  We will be discussing this more until Youth Sunday, October 20th, when we will take up our special offering.  Thank you for your support!

Stewardship Season is upon us and a few surprises are in store for our church this year.  Look for special announcements and some unique ideas in this year’s approach.  Every Sunday in October will have a special “something†to remind everyone about the need to practice good stewardship with all the gifts God has given us.
