Our Beliefs
Religious Thought: Presbyterians adhere to a pattern of religious thought known as Reformed Theology, with major themes including:
· the mystery of the triune God
· the incarnation of the eternal Word of God in Jesus Christ
· salvation by grace alone
· salvation by faith alone
· the authority of scripture
· the sovereignty of God
· election for service as well as salvation
· covenant life together in the church
· faithful stewardship that shuns ostentation
· seeking justice and living in obedience to the Word of God

Form of Government: Presbyterians also follow a form of government that stresses the active, representational leadership of both ministers and church members (“elders”). On the local level, these elders are known as a church’s “session. “ As a connectional denomination, we also have representative assemblies at the regional (“presbytery”) and national (“general assembly”) levels. The majority of decisions made concerning a church are made by the local church itself. The presbytery and general assembly serve as checks against doctrinal error, but they do not strictly control the local congregations.
