Legacy of Love

“Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.”        (Psalm 127: 1)

LEGACY OF LOVE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

HOW YOU CAN HELP?

The campaign term is three years, and your pledge can be paid through May, 2018. We ask that all giving be over and above your gifts and tithes to our operating budget.

HOW WILL THE COST OF THE NEW CHURCH BUILDING BE FUNDED?

The new building shown above (in an artistic rendering) will be funded through several sources, including cash from the sale of our previous property.

ME? A PHILANTHROPIST?

Yes, you. You don’t have to be Bill Gates to be a philanthropist. Giving is an opportunity to grow in Christ. It’s a spiritual discipline as much as a financial decision. But “spiritual discipline” sounds a bit grim, doesn’t it? How about “loving mankind”? This is the etymology of “philanthropy”: phil- (”loving”) + anthropos- (”mankind”). Which brings us back to Jesus again. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).  Phil-anthropy. It’s a Jesus thing.

WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD THIS CHURCH FOR ABOUT $3 A DAY!

That’s the pledge we’d need from everyone who has worshiped with us in The Heritage Lodge to meet our minimum goal.

Heritage New Construction Financials:

Cash from reserve: $380,000

Grant funding:  $20,000

Campaign minimum total: $200,000

Total Down Payment Needed: $600,000

Loan: $900,000

Total Construction Costs: $1,500,000

By when do we need to meet the minimum goal?

We can start construction once we have the down payment in hand.

“HE STARTED IT!”

Parents are well familiar with this retort, which places the blame squarely on a brother or sister for any disagreement. But there’s another way to look at the phrase. The apostle John tells us that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

God began a new relationship with us in love through his son Jesus. He started it. Christ faced his human fears (Luke 22:42) and accepted this legacy of love: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13). And Jesus teaches us plainly: “Love one another” (John 15:17). It’s all about love. Jesus also tells us at his resurrection, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19). Christ wants His love to reach everyone.

Good women and men like you have throughout the centuries answered Christ’s call as missionaries, translators of the Bible, preachers, and as ordinary Christians doing their best to live daily lives of grace and faith.

Why our own building on our own land?

Like you, we at Heritage care about our neighbors in Cypress and northwest Houston. With the help of members and friends, we’ve been a part of this community since 1980. Since 2013 we’ve worshiped at The Heritage Lodge in Towne Lake. While the lodge has been a blessing in many ways, providing a welcoming worship space and bringing new members from the immediate neighborhood, we’re also a bit hard to find. We don’t have a daily presence in our neighborhood and may be hiding our light under a bushel.

What’s your dream for Heritage? Imagine…

  • a visible, welcoming church that is open more than just Sunday mornings.
  • more of our neighbors knowing Christ’s love through Heritage.
  • mission efforts touching even more hearts in Christ’s name.
  • a flexible facility that allows for numerous activities to be held concurrently.
  • men’s and women’s groups with adults of multiple generations gathering in God’s name.
  • a youth group … with more participants than we can count on one hand.
  • the joyful sound of children’s laughter in our hallways.
  • a church campus with offices, education, and worship facilities all in one place.

God started it. Christ lived it.

How will you respond?

We own the land.

Help Heritage take the next step.
